With Congress eyeing the next Covid-19 economic relief package, Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs, R, held a wide ranging video conference conversation with the members of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry last Thursday about the elements the next bill is likely to contain.

At the outset of his remarks, Biggs stressed that the U.S. economy prior to the pandemic was in very strong shape and that it could return to a similarly good place.

PHOENIX — Following President Donald Trump's executive order to protect monuments in the United States, three Arizona Republican Congressmembers sponsored a bill with similar language that was introduced Thursday.

"The ongoing violence in our nation is abhorrent and the deliberate destruction of our nation's history cannot be tolerated," Congresswoman Debbie Lesko said in a statement.

Critics took direct aim at Dr. Anthony Fauci after he claimed during an interview that New York had handled the coronavirus pandemic "correctly."

Fauci touted New York's response to the outbreak during a Friday interview with "PBS Newshour," saying, "When you do it properly, you bring down those cases … We have done it in New York. New York got hit worse than any place in the world. And they did it correctly.

Reps. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) and Matt Gaetz (R-FL) introduced an amendment to the NDAA on Tuesday that would end America's war in Afghanistan and provide for the orderly withdrawal of troops therefrom.

Gaetz and Biggs introduced Sen. Rand Paul's S.J. Res. 12, the AFGHAN Services Act, as an amendment to H.R. 6395, which is the legislation for the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

Conservative Republicans are pushing an amendment to the annual defense spending bill in the House that would rescind authorization from troops in Afghanistan.

The amendment would alter the National Defense Authorization Act to include language rescinding the Authorization for Use of Military Force established in response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The House Freedom Caucus on Thursday called on President Donald Trump, as well as state and local officials, not to let the coronavirus pandemic prevent the reopening of schools this fall.

"It is more harmful to keep children locked out of schools and less harmful and less risky for children to go back to schools, and that's the bottom line. It's as simple as that," Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., said at an outdoor press conference on the Capitol grounds.
