President Trump's rocky relationship with Capitol Hill faces a crucial test Tuesday in a meeting with top Republican and Democratic congressional leaders that could edge the government closer to a year-end bipartisan fiscal deal — or a federal shutdown.

Leaders in both parties spent Monday preparing to make their case to an unpredictable president who abruptly sided with Democrats the last time he sat down with top leaders.

Each year, I love to celebrate Thanksgiving. It's a time for family, fellowship, and reflection. It's a time of thanks.

Special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into whether the Trump campaign assisted Russia in its effort to interfere in the 2016 election amounts to an attempt to overthrow the government, Republicans have argued.

"We are at risk of a coup d'etat in this country if we allow an unaccountable person, with no oversight, to undermine the duly-elected President of the United States," said Florida Congressman Rep. Matt Gaetz from the chamber floor Wednesday.

WASHINGTON — A group of Republicans will take the House floor Tuesday evening to call for the recusal of Robert Mueller, the special counsel investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Congressman Biggs wrote, "We should implement all tax rate reductions and other provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (H.R. 1) retroactive to January 1, 2017. While I appreciate that filers will see immediate benefits arising from decreased withholding in their paychecks already by January 2018, these same taxpayers will also fail to notice that their respective tax burdens have not decreased.

Arizona Republican Rep. Andy Biggs is proposing that the GOP tax plan apply retroactively to 2017, a proposal that could give Republicans a political boost, but further cause the deficit to spike.
