Each year, I love to celebrate Thanksgiving. It's a time for family, fellowship, and reflection. It's a time of thanks.

I'm especially grateful for the holiday this year. It has been a long, divisive year—not only in Washington, D.C., but across the nation.

At times, it can be difficult to watch, read, or hear the news. We often find stories that fail to unite us, when our immediate need is to rally around our commonalities that bind us as fellow Americans.

Special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into whether the Trump campaign assisted Russia in its effort to interfere in the 2016 election amounts to an attempt to overthrow the government, Republicans have argued.

"We are at risk of a coup d'etat in this country if we allow an unaccountable person, with no oversight, to undermine the duly-elected President of the United States," said Florida Congressman Rep. Matt Gaetz from the chamber floor Wednesday.

Congressman Biggs wrote, "We should implement all tax rate reductions and other provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (H.R. 1) retroactive to January 1, 2017. While I appreciate that filers will see immediate benefits arising from decreased withholding in their paychecks already by January 2018, these same taxpayers will also fail to notice that their respective tax burdens have not decreased.

Three GOP congressmen introduced a resolution Friday calling for special counsel Robert Mueller to resign from the Russia collusion probe, citing his ties to the FBI and its role in controversies involving Russia.

Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., a member of the House Judiciary Committee, along with co-sponsors, Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., and Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, introduced the resolution on Friday.
