Another Week, Another Case of Political Theater in the House Judiciary Committee
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, House Judiciary Democrats continued another faux impeachment hearing with Corey Lewandowski. Congressman Biggs issued the following statement:
"Instead of joining President Trump in making America more prosperous for future generations, House Judiciary Democrats are leading the charge to undermine President Trump and manufacture evidence to impeach him. Today's hearing was another in a series of wasteful and pointless hearings that we have come to expect from the spiteful majority. Mr. Lewandowski was already interviewed extensively by the FBI, and every member of this committee can review the FBI summaries of these interviews that the Department of Justice has made available. The majority can re-interview every single witness from the Mueller investigation, but they are not going to find anything new that the greatest investigative agency in the world did not already find.
"All of these hearings are nothing but political theater, and the chairman knows it. The opening of an impeachment inquiry is a serious matter, and deserves wide support, which simply does not exist in this case. Every presidential impeachment in American history has commenced with an authorization vote of the full House of Representatives. House rules do not give this committee jurisdiction over presidential impeachments outside of this procedure, but Chairman Nadler has decided to violate precedent, violate the rules, and violate the trust of the American people.
"A majority of Americans oppose this inquiry. A majority of the House opposes this inquiry. A majority of the Senate opposes this inquiry. The Mueller Report is closed. It is time for Chairman Nadler to face this reality."
