Congressman Andy Biggs Named Chairman of Environment Subcommittee

February 1, 2017

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Andy Biggs was named chairman of the Subcommittee on Environment on the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee. The Environment Subcommittee has jurisdiction on all matters relating to environmental research, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, risk assessment activities, scientific issues related to environmental policy, remote sensing data, and other appropriate matters. Chairman Lamar Smith released the following statement on the appointment:

"Representative Andy Biggs will serve as chairman of the Environment Subcommittee in the 115th Congress. From his time in the Arizona state legislature, Representative Biggs understands the negative cost of EPA regulations on the economy and American families. I look forward to working with Chairman Biggs to push for sensible environmental policies based on sound science that benefit the American people."

Congressman Biggs issued the following statement:

"I am honored to be named chairman of the Subcommittee on Environment. There is a lot of ground to cover, and I intend to work hard to advance the goals and interests of the Committee and my constituents in Arizona's Fifth Congressional District. The environmental agenda over the last eight years has had a devastating impact across the country, and Americans are looking to Congress to free them from the burden of regulations and policies hindering economic growth. We will strive to reset the agenda on environmental improvement and put the EPA back on track. I thank Chairman Lamar Smith for this appointment, and I look forward to working with him over the next two years."
