Congressman Andy Biggs Receives Committee Assignments for the 116th Congress

January 24, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Andy Biggs received committee assignments for the 116th Congress: the House Committee on the Judiciary and the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. Congressman Biggs released the following statement:

"I am looking forward to joining Ranking Member Doug Collins on Judiciary and Ranking Member Frank Lucas on Science, Space, and Technology. I have enjoyed both committees and hope to build upon our efforts in the 115th Congress.

"The Judiciary Committee shapes legislation dealing with immigration, border security, intellectual property issues, and the courts. I will continue to prioritize border security and congressional accountability of our courts. Unfortunately, Judiciary Democrats plan to prioritize witch hunts to undermine President Donald Trump and his administration throughout the 116th Congress. I will oppose any attempts that subvert the will of the American people.

"The Science, Space, and Technology Committee seeks to enhance American economic competitiveness through investment in federal research and development. I will continue to promote our nation's innovative spirit through smart use of taxpayer dollars based on proven science. Republicans worked closely with Democrats last Congress to pass bipartisan legislation that improved our science, space, and technological capabilities. I hope that Democrats commit to the same during the next two years.

"While, on both committees, there will be times of cooperation and bipartisan accord, I am concerned with the potential attacks on the Constitution, rule of law, and scientific facts. I will be an active participant on both of these committees to challenge the Democrats' efforts to undermine the fundamentals of our nation."

Congressman Andy Biggs is a second-term Representative from Arizona's Fifth Congressional District, representing parts of Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, and Queen Creek. Congressman Biggs is a member of the House Judiciary and Science, Space, and Technology committees. He lives with his wife, Cindy, in Gilbert.
