Congressman Biggs Applauds the August Jobs Report
GILBERT, ARIZONA – Today, the U.S. Department of Labor released its Employment Situation Report for August 2019, showing that the American economy added 130,000 jobs, the unemployment rate remained at 3.7, wages increased over 3% from the previous year, and labor force participation and the number of Americans marked as ‘employed’ experienced positive gains. Congressman Biggs released the following statement:
“This latest jobs report proves that the economy remains strong. Jobs continue to be created across the country, the unemployment rate remains near a 50-year low, and Americans’ paychecks are expanding, signaling real strength in the economy. August was another month of economic progress and success, but there is also more work to be done to complement the pro-growth policies of this administration. Congress must take action to reduce regulatory burdens on the economy, slash government spending, and make the tax code even more advantageous for American individuals, families, and businesses. I encourage my colleagues to champion this pro-growth agenda to sustain the economic momentum of the past two years.”
Congressman Andy Biggs is a second-term Representative from Arizona’s Fifth Congressional District, representing parts of Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, and Queen Creek.
