Congressman Biggs Calls For Second Special Counsel after New Rosenstein Allegations

February 14, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, new reports allege that former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe made repeated claims that an effort was undertaken in 2017 to begin research into invoking the 25th Amendment against President Trump. New allegations were also made that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein offered on multiple occasions to wear a wire around President Trump. Congressman Biggs released the following statement:

"These reports involving the individuals at the highest levels of our Justice Department are troubling. America's Justice Department is supposed to be impartial, yet under Rosenstein and Comey it has fallen short of their standards. Rosenstein and McCabe, among others, must go before Congress to answer for these allegations, and I am again calling for a second Special Counsel who can investigate (and, if necessary) prosecute these bad actors. If true, these revelations may represent one of the greatest subversions of the American people in our history."

Congressman Andy Biggs is a second-term Representative from Arizona's Fifth Congressional District, representing parts of Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, and Queen Creek. Congressman Biggs is a member of the House Judiciary and Science, Space, and Technology committees. He lives with his wife, Cindy, in Gilbert.
