Congressman Biggs Calls for Security Clearances to Be Revoked from Brennan and Others

July 24, 2018

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Following calls for the removal of security clearances of John Brennan, James Comey, James Clapper, Michael Hayden, Susan Rice, and Andrew McCabe, Congressman Biggs issued the following statement:

"It is a privilege to hold a security clearance in the United States, and with privilege comes responsibility. Thousands of men and women around the nation go through a rigorous investigation process before they are granted a security clearance. Everyone having access to highly sensitive information - especially those at the highest levels - has a duty to the American people to use it solely to protect and defend the Constitution, not to wield it as a political weapon.

"Unfortunately, these Obama administration alumni have been blinded by their partisan hatred of President Trump and their desperation to save their self-proclaimed legacies. They have blurred the lines between politics and patriotism. They have sought to undermine President Trump's agenda at any cost. We know that at least one of these individuals, Comey, may have leaked classified information to a friend to influence an ongoing investigation.

"I agree with Senator Paul that these individuals should have their security clearances revoked (if they still hold a security clearance) and I encourage President Trump to ensure that these individuals are not in a position to further harm the reputation of the United States' intelligence community."
