Congressman Biggs Praises Supreme Court Ruling in Little Sisters of the Poor Case

July 9, 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, the U.S. Supreme Court decided, 7-2, in favor of Little Sisters of the Poor in the case LITTLE SISTERS OF THE POOR SAINTS PETER AND PAUL HOME v. PENNSYLVANIA ET AL. Congressman Biggs praised the decision, issuing the following statement:

"I am pleased that the Supreme Court decided in favor of Little Sisters of the Poor. This religious order, and other companies, were targeted by the Obama administration's requirement that, under Obamacare, employees were required to offer health insurance policies that included abortion coverage – regardless of any closely held religious beliefs. Under no circumstances should an organization or company be forced to pay for something that directly contradicts their religious or moral beliefs, and I am grateful for President Trump's administration forceful defense of religious freedom and people of faith in this case."

Congressman Andy Biggs is a second-term Representative from Arizona's Fifth Congressional District, representing parts of Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, and Queen Creek.
