Congressman Biggs Responds to the Release of the Whistleblower Report
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Andy Biggs responded to the release of the whistleblower report, involving President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky:
"Democrats have thrown a litany of accusations at President Trump over the past three years, hoping that one – or a collection of tall tales – would lead to his impeachment and removal from office. When the Mueller witch hunt fell flat, Democrats jumped on the unknown, unverified report of a whistleblower who allegedly had knowledge of wrongdoing by the President. Before they knew any of the facts, the contents of the report, the transcript of the call in question, or the identity of the whistleblower, Democrats renewed their fervor for impeachment of President Donald Trump.
"The whistleblower has no first-hand knowledge of the call in question. Rather, the whistleblower's complaint contains murky allegations that the whistleblower heard from third parties and news reports. In court, this would be considered ‘hearsay.' A court of law would never admit these statements because they are inherently unreliable, yet Democrats are using this report to overturn an election through new impeachment efforts in the House. The report also includes inconsistencies with the first-hand transcript of the call. For example, the whistleblower states the President specifically requested the Ukrainian president turn over ‘servers,' yet the transcript shows President Trump never makes a such a request. Over time, I have no doubt that more inconsistencies will be discovered. But Democrats won't wait for the facts to come out because they do not want the facts to get in the way of their singular objective: removing President Trump from office.
"Democrats are auditioning for an Oscar award for their concern for the rule of law, the Constitution, and transparency. They have no credibility on these fronts. Since Donald J. Trump ascended to the presidency, they have manipulated and contrived fantasies to avail themselves of their hated political foe. They have voted, on multiple occasions, to impeach President Trump, failing miserably each time. Democrats have become a one-issue party: the party of impeachment. Their divisive and spiteful efforts to undermine the will of the American people will have repercussions for generations."
