Congressman Biggs Sends Letter to AG Barr about the International Criminal Court's Recent Investigations

August 7, 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, Congressman Biggs sent a letter and supporting materials to Attorney General William Barr expressing grave concerns about the International Criminal Court's (ICC) recent investigations into both the United States and Israel for "crimes against humanity," which is being aided by individuals and organizations with ties to foreign terrorist groups:

Congressman Biggs released the following statement:

"The Netherlands-based ICC has always been a travesty, but its recent cases against the United States and Israel are especially absurd. It is outrageous to claim that our brave soldiers have committed ‘crimes against humanity' while fighting terrorists in Afghanistan; it is equally ridiculous to claim that Israel is guilty of atrocities as it fights for its survival while under regular attacks from hostile neighbors. No one should be surprised that the ICC is advancing these spurious cases: after all, the Court's prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda, has ties to organizations that support foreign terrorist groups. Secretary of State Pompeo acted wisely by denying Ms. Bensouda a visa to enter the United States.

"While the ICC has no jurisdiction over our own country, it wields considerable influence over global affairs. I urge my congressional colleagues to fight the ICC attacks on Israel and the U.S. The Department of Justice should resist the ICC. Americans should realize that the ICC is an enemy to freedom and is morally bankrupt."
