Congressman Biggs Sends Letter to Chairman Nadler Demanding Hearing with Sec. Mayorkas

December 2, 2021

Today, Congressman Andy Biggs, and all of his Republican colleagues on the Judiciary Committee, sent a letter to Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler demanding that he schedule a hearing with Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas before the end of the year.  Chairman Nadler has ignored multiple previous requests to have Secretary Mayorkas testify before the House Judiciary Committee.

“Only a federal bureaucrat would give himself an ‘A for effort’ for creating one of the worst border crises our country has ever seen. If Chair Nadler agrees with the Secretary’s self-assessment, then he should be eager to help the Secretary to defend his grade.” said Congressman Andy Biggs. “But if he refuses to invite Secretary Mayorkas to testify, Chair Nadler will be acknowledging that Secretary Mayorkas’s record is indefensible. It’s time for the House Judiciary Committee to conduct proper oversight of the Department of Homeland Security and hold Secretary Mayorkas accountable for his failures.”

In August, Congressman Biggs led the charge in calling for Secretary Mayorkas’s impeachment for his failure to secure the southern border.
