Congressman Biggs' Statement on 2nd Quarter GDP Report

July 27, 2018

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, the U.S. Commerce Department released its 2nd quarter economic growth numbers, showing the U.S. economy with a 4.1% GDP increase. Congressman Biggs released the following statement:

"Today's numbers are historic and prove that our efforts to grow the economy by cutting regulations and taxes are working. When Americans keep more of their hard-earned money, and businesses experience a fair playing field, the economy soars. More jobs are created. Unemployment numbers dip. Consumer spending increases. And optimism abounds.

"These numbers have sparked enthusiasm and an urgency to keep promoting the policies that lead to sustained economic growth. Congress must continue to enact reforms to ensure the viability of this progress. I hope that we return to work in September with an eye on passing Tax Cuts 2.0 and identifying additional regulatory burdens to remove."
