Congressman Biggs' Statement on America's $23 Trillion Debt
GILBERT, ARIZONA – Yesterday, the U.S. Treasury indicated that America’s National Debt breached $23 trillion for the first time in the country’s history. Congressman Biggs issued the following statement:
“Yesterday’s news about the national debt’s latest ‘milestone’ won’t grab a lot of headlines at all, but it should frighten every American. Members of the next generation will each be saddled with tens of thousands of dollars of debt – simply because their elected officials in the U.S. Congress won’t make the tough decisions necessary to cut spending and balance the budget. All debts must be settled eventually, and I hope we take action before it’s too late to save future generations of Americans from economic crisis and calamity.”
Congressman Andy Biggs is a second-term Representative from Arizona’s Fifth Congressional District, representing parts of Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, and Queen Creek. Congressman Biggs is a member of the House Judiciary and Science, Space, and Technology committees. He lives with his wife, Cindy, in Gilbert.
