Congressman Biggs' Statement on Declassification of Key FISA Documents and Text Messages

September 17, 2018

GILBERT, ARIZONA – Today, President Donald Trump ordered the declassification of key FISA documents and text messages in the FBI's Russia investigation. Congressman Biggs issued the following statement:

"I applaud President Trump for assisting Congress with its oversight responsibilities over the DOJ and FBI and to provide transparency to the American people. Our government must act fairly and without bias. Unfortunately, we have seen the opposite from DOJ and FBI officials at the very top.

I look forward to reading these documents in full and will continue to call for the appointment of a second special counsel to investigate - and to prosecute – any wrongdoing by these officials during the Hillary Clinton and Russia investigations. Contrary to the dearth of evidence that preceded Special Counsel Mueller's appointment last year, there is an overwhelming amount of evidence to warrant this appointment. I call on Attorney General Jeff Sessions to heed Congress's demand for this appointment, and I will continue to fight for complete transparency."
