Congressman Biggs' Statement on DOJ Motion to Dismiss General Michael Flynn Case

May 7, 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the U.S. Department of Justice announced its intention to dismiss the criminal information against General Michael Flynn. Congressman Biggs issued the following statement:

"General Flynn is an American patriot, who was shamefully set up by the Obama administration's interference in the 2016 election against then-candidate Donald J. Trump. What happened to General Flynn can happen to any American, regardless of party affiliation. I'm thankful for Attorney General Barr and the prosecutors at the Department of Justice for moving to right a great injustice, and for General Flynn's legal team for relentlessly seeking the truth.

"In order for justice to be truly served, however, the individuals who participated in the set-up of General Flynn and of others around then-candidate Donald J. Trump should be held accountable for their corruption and abuse of power. We cannot allow those at the highest levels of our government to abuse their power and authority with impunity. There must be consequences. I hope Attorney General Barr and others who might be investigating these injustices will levy sufficient punishments upon those who committed these wrongdoings. I also call upon President Donald Trump to award General Flynn with the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his service to our nation."
