Congressman Biggs' Statement on the February Jobs Report
GILBERT, ARIZONA – Today, the U.S. Department of Labor released the Employment Situation Summary for February, showing that 273,000 jobs were created, the unemployment rate fell to 3.5%, and wages increased 3% from the previous year. Congressman Biggs issued the following statement:
“Every month, economists and pundits warn of a sustained economic slowdown, but President Trump’s economy continues to prove them wrong. February’s incredible economic numbers prove that the Trump administration’s pro-growth efforts – combined with the lasting effects of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act – are infusing optimism and prosperity across our great nation. Millions of Americans are receiving tremendous benefits from the results. Hundreds of thousands of jobs are being created. The unemployment rate is at a historic low. And employees are seeing more money in their paychecks each month.
“Members of the Trump administration are committed to their pro-growth agenda because the President and Republicans trust the American people to captain their own economic destinies. Congress must join the Executive Branch to build upon these policies. I encourage my colleagues to do our part to empower this economic momentum.”
