Congressman Biggs’ Statement on Latest Judicial Activism Regarding DACA

January 10, 2018

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. District Court Judge William Alsup blocked the Trump administration's decision to end the unconstitutional Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Congressman Biggs released the following statement:

"Former President Obama ignored Congress's constitutional responsibility when he unilaterally bestowed a protected legal status to these illegal aliens. President Trump was well within his right to end this program and return immigration policy decisions to the legislative branch. It is Congress's responsibility to write legislation and appointed judges must follow the spirit and letter of the law. Judge Alsup's decision further demonstrates the need to reshape our judicial system to prevent activist judges from imposing their political views on rulings of this magnitude."
