Congressman Biggs’ Statement on Latest Revelations into James Comey’s handling of the Clinton-FBI Investigation
Gilbert, Arizona – Yesterday, the FBI released new documents showing that former FBI Director James Comey had, in fact, drafted a statement clearing Hillary Clinton from wrongdoing over use of a personal email server holding classified information prior to the investigation's conclusion. Congressman Biggs released the following statement:
"James Comey misled the American people at every step of the investigation into Hillary Clinton, and his actions may have obstructed justice. Mr. Comey had a responsibility to complete his investigation before he made a recommendation regarding prosecution. Based on the available evidence and these recent revelations, I have no doubt that Hillary Clinton betrayed the public's trust, and the American people deserve a proper investigation of her actions while she served as Secretary of State.
"The unnecessary appointment of Robert Mueller as special counsel to investigate Russian election meddling has served its purpose of diverting attention from Mrs. Clinton's actions. From the beginning, Mr. Mueller's tenure as special counsel has been suspect as both he and Comey have a tight professional and personal relationship. If Robert Mueller cares about his investigation – and the public's perception of his actions – he should recuse himself. It is time that we eliminate political witch hunts against President Trump, and shift our attention to removing the smokescreen shielding Mrs. Clinton from further scrutiny by appointing an independent, special counsel."
