Congressman Biggs’ Statement on the May Jobs Report
GILBERT, ARIZONA – Today, the Department of Labor released the May 2019 Employment Situation report. Congressman Biggs released the following statement:
“Today, the Department of Labor’s May jobs numbers show that the unemployment rate remains at a healthy 3.6% and wage growth at over 3%. President Trump’s economy continues to exceed expectations. I regularly speak to local business leaders in my district who tell me that the economy is on the right track thanks to historic tax reform and deregulation efforts, but they also remind me that there is still a lot of work to do. To sustain this economic momentum, Democrats must work with the President and Republicans to continue making pro-growth changes to our tax code, cut more burdensome regulations, and address our rising national debt, which poses an existential risk to our grandchildren’s prosperity. America’s economic future looks bright, but it will only remain so if Congress promotes economic freedom for Americans.”
Congressman Andy Biggs is a second-term Representative from Arizona’s Fifth Congressional District, representing parts of Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, and Queen Creek.
