Congressman Biggs' Statement on President Trump's State of the Union Address

February 4, 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Tonight, President Donald J. Trump gave the State of the Union to Congress and the American people. Congressman Biggs attended and issued the following statement:

"In his fourth major address to Congress, President Trump infused optimism across the homeland and inspired all Americans to reflect on how far we have come to make this country a great and prosperous nation. The state of our Union is indeed strong because of President Trump's tireless and visionary leadership.

"Thanks to President Trump's commitment to his promises, the American economy continues to shatter expectations, giving families a brighter fiscal future. Unemployment levels are at historic lows; wages are rising; and millions of jobs have been created over the past three years. America is respected again internationally, and the Trump administration has fostered new trade deals to put American interests first. The federal judiciary has been replenished with judges who respect the Framer's intent behind the Constitution. President Trump is protecting innocent Americans and American sovereignty by securing our border, enforcing our immigration laws, and using his power as Commander in Chief to eliminate some of the most evil terrorists this world has ever known. The Trump administration has been extremely proactive in expanding school choice, protecting the unborn, and defending religious freedom.

"President Trump's record of accomplishments continues to grow, and the impact will remain long after he exits the White House. Yet, for the United States of America to a remain strong and ‘shining city on a hill,' our elected officials – especially those of us in Congress – must aspire for unity and find common ground. Some days, Congress may seem unfit for this challenge, but I have faith – like President Trump – that America's best days are ahead of us, and that Republicans and Democrats will work together for the good and prosperity of all Americans."
