Congressman Biggs’ Statement on Robert Mueller’s Testimony Before House Committees

July 24, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, former Special Counsel Robert Mueller testified in front of the House Judiciary Committee. Congressman Biggs questioned Mr. Mueller and released the following statement:

"For Democrats, the Mueller hearing was a bust. Democrat Chairmen Jerry Nadler and Adam Schiff were thwarted in their efforts to lay groundwork to impeach President Trump. They had hoped that the Mueller hearing would revitalize their failing efforts to impeach, showcased by last week's vote, when an impeachment resolution was defeated by three-fourths of the House.

"Yet the Democrats persist in their groundless efforts. Not a single American was charged with conspiring with Russia to influence the 2016 election. Mueller's Democrat prosecutors did not find that any members of the Trump campaign colluded with Russia. In fact, Mr. Mueller admitted that fact today, and Democrats on the Judiciary and Intelligence Committees could not persuade Mueller to deviate from those conclusions.

"Mueller's one-sided witch hunt was exposed during his testimony. He refused to answer critical questions about the origins of the Russia investigation or why he excluded exculpatory evidence from his report. He hedged on when he knew that then-candidate Trump had not worked with the Russians to impact the 2016 presidential election.

"Mueller also confirmed that his investigation was not hindered or stopped by President Trump. The investigation is closed. Democrats should apologize to the President, the American people, and stop their baseless fantasies to impeach this President."
