Congressman Biggs' Statement on the September Jobs Report

October 2, 2020
Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the U.S. Department of Labor released the Employment Situation Report for September, showing that 661,000 jobs were created, and the nation’s unemployment rate decreased to 7.9% last month. Congressman Biggs issued the following statement:

“Thanks to the pro-growth foundation that President Donald Trump has constructed for the first three years of his presidency, America’s economy is quickly recovering from the draconian shutdowns instituted by state and local governments. Millions of Americans have returned to work, and more job creations and openings are certainly on the way. President Trump is truly leading the great American comeback.

“President Trump understands that there is more work to be done to ensure that all unemployed Americans return to work, and he knows that the local cures for COVID-19 were worse than the disease itself. States and local jurisdictions that are still operating under restrictions or lockdowns must reopen. I am confident that President Trump and his administration will continue to lead the way for America’s safe economic recovery for our friends and neighbors who want to get back to work as quickly as possible. Our best days are ahead of us, and I am grateful for the president’s commitment to free market principles.”
