Congressman Biggs' Statement on Speaker Pelosi's 'Impeachment Inquiry' Announcement

September 24, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C. – This afternoon, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the commencement of an impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump. Congressman Biggs issued the following statement:

"Speaker Pelosi appeared to capitulate to her radical base today by launching an impeachment inquiry, but her statement was nothing short of a sham and a fraud. If she is intent on launching impeachment proceedings, then she should immediately put an impeachment resolution on the House floor for the tell-all vote. Speaker Pelosi's failure to do so is a continuation of the hoax that Democrats have perpetrated on the American people for the past three years. She is trying to have this both ways.

"This has always been a binary choice for Democrats: impeach President Trump or damage his credibility and perception enough to harm his future electoral chances. There was never a willingness to work with this President for the best of the country. Speaker Pelosi acts as if she is on the side of impeachment, her hand having been forced by the socialist wing of her party. However, the American people feel very differently. Many polls have indicated that the majority of Americans oppose the start of impeachment proceedings.

"Democrats have tried everything they can think of to justify their desire to impeach President Trump, but have come away empty every time. They don't have any credible high crimes and misdemeanors, so they have manipulated investigations to drudge up dirt on the President. This is a sad story in the history of the United States of America, and it will take a long time for the nation to heal once the Democrats are finished with their unstoppable carnage of this republic."
