Congressman Biggs Thanks East Valley Community for Successful Drop Zone Event

April 15, 2019

GILBERT, ARIZONA – This past weekend, Congressman Andy Biggs hosted the East Valley's first Drop Zone event – a one-stop shop for veterans services and seniors benefits. The event, which featured a National Anthem rendition from Diana Stocker, TAPS from Jacob Petersen, remarks from Mike Broomhead, and Colors from the American Leadership Academy's Black Eagle Squadron, drew over 2,000 East Valley residents and vendors. Congressman Biggs released the following statement:

"My staff and I are thankful for the community response to this inaugural event for our East Valley veterans and seniors. This event was truly a team effort and could not have been possible without hundreds of people, working behind the scenes to make everything successful for attending veterans and seniors. Arizona's Fifth District has a long tradition of caring for and honoring our veterans and seniors; I am grateful to represent this district and our constituents. We look forward to Drop Zone 2020.

"Special thanks to all the individuals, providers, and service organizations responsible for this event's success, including American Leadership Academy for providing the space for the event, the Black Eagle Squadron, Diana Stocker, Jacob Petersen, the Mesa Veterans Resource Center, the Phoenix VA, the Social Security Administration, Mike Broomhead, and over 60 providers and service organizations for their time and efforts on Saturday. We are also grateful to the dozens of public safety officials who attended the event to educate the public on their community initiatives and projects."
