Congressman Biggs Unveils Pro-Life Ultrasound Legislation

January 18, 2024

Today, Congressman Andy Biggs (R-AZ) introduced the Ultrasound Informed Consent Act–legislation that provides pregnant women an opportunity to review ultrasound imaging before proceeding with an abortion. Credible studies have found that about 80% of abortion-leaning women choose to protect their unborn child after they view their ultrasound. Congressman Biggs’s bill comes during a week when tens of thousands of people will voice their support for the right to life in Washington, D.C., and has received support from the National Pro-Life Alliance.

“The Biden Administration’s heinous pro-abortion policies continue to incentivize women to end the lives of innocent, unborn American children. My legislation provides pregnant women a safe and intimate opportunity to rethink their abortion. This subtle but important process change can potentially save millions of unborn lives. Defending the right to life remains one of my top priorities in Congress,” said Congressman Andy Biggs.

“We congratulate Congressman Andy Biggs for taking the leadership on this vital legislation that would ensure that each woman has the right to know the truth about her unborn child. Congressman Biggs' Ultrasound Informed Consent Act guarantees that mothers know exactly what an abortion is ending: not just “tissue” or a “clump of cells” but the life of her unborn baby,” said Martin Fox, president of the National Pro-Life Alliance.

Cosponsors of this bill are: Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-SC), Rep. Andy Harris (R-MD), Rep. Matthew Rosendale Sr. (R-MT), Rep. Alex Mooney (R-WV), Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL), Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX), and Rep. Eric Burlison (R-MO).
