Congressman Biggs Votes to Pay Federal Workers Affected by Partial Government Shutdown

January 25, 2019

GILBERT, ARIZONA – This week, House Republicans voted in favor of a third motion to pay federal workers who are missing paychecks due to the current, partial government shutdown. Although more Democrats joined Republicans on this third vote, it still failed on the floor. Congressman Biggs voted in favor of all three motions and released the following statement:

"Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer have orchestrated and sustained the longest government shutdown in American history over their obstructions for true border security. In doing so, they have compromised both national security and the abilities for these federal employees – including our Border Patrol and TSA agents – to financially support their families. I hope to have another opportunity next week to vote to pay our federal workers, and I encourage my colleagues on the other side of the aisle to put aside their blind allegiance to Nancy Pelosi and pay our workers. I have also introduced the Pay Our Protectors Act, which provides pay for federal employees tasked with securing our border and deterring illegal immigration during this government shutdown."
