Congressman Biggs Votes to Protect Classified Information
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, House Judiciary Democrats voted to subpoena the full, unredacted Mueller Report, ignoring legal requirements for redactions of classified material. Congressman Biggs supports the release of this report while following the law regarding redactions and expects the disclosure to occur in the near future. He issued the following statement:
"Last month, the House unanimously voted to support the release of the Mueller Report within the constraints of existing law. This includes protecting victims and witnesses who testify before a grand jury, classified information important to protect our national security, and evidence in ongoing investigations—such as those being conducted by the Inspector General. I still hold this position, and I am encouraged that President Trump has also called for a speedy release.
"In telephone calls and letters to the Committee Chairman, Attorney General Barr has indicated that he will release the report as the law requires. Yet Democrats are so desperate to spin the Mueller Report to fit their anti-Trump narrative that they are demanding that Attorney General Barr break the law and release information contrary to law in order to achieve their political goals. Today's vote was another disgraceful political tactic by the Democrats. I look forward to reading the report upon its release."
