House Democrats Block Use of National Defense Funds for Border Wall Construction

July 10, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last night, Democrats on the House Rules Committee refused to make in order Congressman Biggs' amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that would allow the use of national security funds for border wall construction. Congressman Biggs issued the following statement:

"I'm disappointed in last night's decision by House Democrats to block my amendment from receiving debate and consideration on the House floor. House Democrats have politicized this year's NDAA, risking vital national security priorities with their perpetual attempts to block true border security. Democrats' efforts to stymie President Trump's attempts to secure our border and protect innocent Americans have no place in the NDAA, and I call on my colleagues on the other side of the aisle to reconsider their obstruction of border security."

Congressman Andy Biggs is a second-term Representative from Arizona's Fifth Congressional District, representing parts of Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, and Queen Creek. Congressman Biggs is a member of the House Judiciary and Science, Space, and Technology committees. He lives with his wife, Cindy, in Gilbert.
