House Democrats Continue Harassment of President Donald Trump's Administration
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats continued their harassment of President Donald Trump and his administration, passing H.Res. 430 to empower committee chairmen to bypass the entire House of Representatives in attempts to enforce subpoenas with Trump officials. Congressman Biggs voted against the resolution and issued the following statement:
"Radical House Democrats have made their intentions manifest: they seek to impeach President Donald Trump and undermine the credibility of anyone standing in their way. Judiciary Committee Democrats have held Attorney General Barr in contempt over his refusal to transmit classified documents and legally protected grand jury information to Congress. They refuse to engage in constitutionally required negotiations to reach a legally sufficient solution to this impasse.
"President Trump's administration is providing access to legally available documents and materials being sought by the Committee. This is exactly what the Committee should be doing: framing their requests with specificity and attempting to achieve a resolution outside of court. Any other tactics, such as prematurely seeking to enforce a legally deficient subpoena, sets an irreversible pattern that will reverberate far beyond our tenure in Congress."
Congressman Andy Biggs is a second-term Representative from Arizona's Fifth Congressional District, representing parts of Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, and Queen Creek.
