House Democrats Pass Irresponsible Government Spending Bill

January 4, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On the first day of the 116th Congress, House Democrats voted to pass a government funding bill that will increase America's national debt, leave our southern border unsecured, and force Americans to subsidize international abortions. Congressman Biggs voted against the bill and issued the following statement:

"Democrats wasted no time to do what I – and other members of the House Freedom Caucus – warned about for months. They portrayed themselves as reasonable last year, only to pivot to the extreme left-wing of their party on their first day. Yesterday was a glimpse at what the next two years will bring in the House of Representatives.

"Democrats continue to play politics with our national security and the American economy, and have utter disregard for the life of the most innocent among us. I encourage the Senate to reject this most recent proposal, and I encourage President Trump to remain firm to his promises."
