Senate Democrats Obstruct Passage of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senate Democrats blocked further consideration of S. 311, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. Congressman Biggs, a cosponsor of its House companion, issued the following statement:
"We have reached a new low in this country when representatives from our government block efforts to save babies who have survived abortions. It is unconscionable that Senate and House Democrats would seek to expand and sustain abortion in the United States. I applaud Senate Republicans for standing for life tonight, and I encourage them – as well as my House colleagues – to continue this fight. Our babies deserve nothing less.
"Even though Congress is hopelessly divided on this issue, we have a President who consistently defends life. Since the beginning of his administration, President Trump has taken numerous executive actions to protect life and to appoint judges to the federal judiciary who will defend the constitutional rights of the unborn. Just recently, President Trump's administration finalized a rule for Title X funding that will cut millions of dollars from Planned Parenthood. I support President Trump's efforts, and I will continue to be a voice for the unborn in the U.S. House of Representatives."
Congressman Andy Biggs is a second-term Representative from Arizona's Fifth Congressional District, representing parts of Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, and Queen Creek. Congressman Biggs is a member of the House Judiciary and Science, Space, and Technology committees. He lives with his wife, Cindy, in Gilbert.
