Congressman Biggs Responds to American Airstrike in Syria

February 26, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Andy Biggs, the co-chair of the War Powers Caucus, released the following statement in response to recent American military strikes in Syria:

"Democrats and the mainstream media screamed for accountability of President Trump's targeted military strikes overseas over the last four years. Unsurprisingly, most of them are silent after Joe Biden's airstrike last night.

"Joe Biden must come to Congress to explain last night's airstrikes. And if there are plans for continued military actions overseas, the president must consult with Congress per the U.S. Constitution. The United States should continue to reinforce our allies in the region without expanding our troop deployments.

"I look forward to working with my colleagues on the War Powers Caucus to restore Congress's constitutional responsibilities for declaring and engaging in war."
