Partisan Democrats Introduce Vindictive Articles of Impeachment

December 10, 2019
Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. – This morning, House Democrats announced that they would be introducing two Articles of Impeachment for President Donald Trump – Abuse of Power and Obstruction of Congress. Congressman Biggs issued the following statement:

“Democrats and their allies in the media have viciously attempted to undermine and harass President Trump since he took the oath of office in January 2017. The day President Trump was inaugurated, the Washington Post called for his impeachment. Mere months after President Trump’s inauguration, Congressman Al Green introduced the first of his three impeachment resolutions. Many Democrats have been on the record over the last three years – for various reasons – to make their case for impeachment of President Trump.

“This latest hoax that Democrats have used to pursue impeachment of President Trump is completely without merit. Democrats tried for more than two years to make the case for impeachment through the Mueller Report. When that fell through, they searched for another lie. They found a so-called “whistleblower” who may have illegally leaked classified information – or had classified information illegally leaked to him – to jumpstart their new hoax. They created enough of a frenzy in their Washington, D.C. echo chamber to proceed with alacrity. They lied about the content of the call, met secretly with the whistleblower, held Soviet-style hearings behind closed doors, blocked the President’s counsel from participating in the fact-finding portion of the inquisition, refused to allow Republicans to call key witnesses, obstructed Republicans from asking questions, broke key House rules, and contorted the facts and context behind the Ukraine phone call to fit their pre-determined narrative. The fix was in from the start.

“Democrats have proceeded to the brink of impeachment simply because they have been looking to do so for three years. This is the most partisan impeachment in our nation’s history.  But as Professor Jonathan Turley told the Judiciary Committee last week, the process they have chosen is an abuse of congressional power. This is the slowest-moving coup in American history, and Americans should be outraged by the suppression of truth, transparency, and due process on the part of the Democrats.”
