Washington, D.C. – Yesterday, Congressman Andy Biggs (AZ-05) submitted two amendments to the American Health Care Act (AHCA). One amendment would allow individuals to purchase health insurance across state lines. The second would allow states to opt out of any or all provisions of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) or AHCA without prior Department of Health and Human Services waiver approval. However, these amendments are not included in the final version of the AHCA that the House of Representatives will be voting on later today.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Andy Biggs announced the submission of two amendments to the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2017. One amendment appropriates $1.4 billion for construction of a wall along the international border between the United States and Mexico. The second amendment prohibits any funds appropriated in the resolution from flowing to Planned Parenthood Federation of America, any affiliate or clinic of Planned Parenthood, or any successor of Planned Parenthood. Orrick in San Francisco issued a temporary injunction on President Donald Trump's previous executive order that withholds federal funds from U.S. cities that do not cooperate with federal immigration laws. This decision follows two other court actions blocking a separate executive order on immigration vetting, including decisions by the frequently-overturned Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
