WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressmen Andy Biggs (AZ-05) and Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-08) introduced the Right to Try Act of 2017, which would allow terminally-ill patients an option to receive drugs that have passed the Food and Drug Administration's basic safety testing, but are still working their way through the often lengthy bureaucratic process to final approval. The bill is a companion to Senate legislation introduced by Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) last month.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Andy Biggs (AZ-05) joined the Congressional Western Caucus. The stated mission of the Western Caucus is to enhance, sustain and preserve the West's dynamic and unique culture, and to find innovative solutions that address the distinctive concerns facing western and rural communities. The Western Caucus includes over 50 House members, including three from Arizona. Congressman Paul Gosar (AZ-04) serves as the chair of the Caucus. Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Andy Biggs was named chairman of the Subcommittee on Environment on the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee. The Environment Subcommittee has jurisdiction on all matters relating to environmental research, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, risk assessment activities, scientific issues related to environmental policy, remote sensing data, and other appropriate matters. Washington, D.C. – On January 4, 2017, Congressman Andy Biggs (AZ-05) introduced H.R. 250 – the Judicial Administration and Improvement Act. H.R. 250 creates a new, Twelfth Circuit Court of Appeals. In doing so, Arizona, along with Alaska, Idaho, Montana, and Nevada, would be removed from the Ninth Federal Circuit Court and into the Twelfth. Congressman Biggs issued the following statement:

January 26, 2017

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Andy Biggs (AZ-05) introduced the Budget Process Accountability Act. This legislation would penalize Members of the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate by holding their salaries in escrow if their respective chamber has not agreed to a concurrent resolution on the budget for fiscal year 2018 by April 15, 2017. Washington, D.C. - Recently, while responding to a call, an Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) trooper, Edward Andersson, was ambushed, shot, and assaulted by Leonard Pennuelas Escobar on Interstate 10. The DPS trooper was taken to a local hospital in stable condition and has since been released. It was later discovered that Escobar, who was shot and killed at the scene, was believed to be an illegal immigrant and a known drug user, living in Glendale.
