WASHINGTON — Two lawmakers introduced legislation in the House and Senate on Wednesday that would require the Department of Veterans Affairs to offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy for veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury – an unproven treatment that some veterans have praised as a useful tool in their recovery.
GILBERT, ARIZONA – Yesterday, Congressman Biggs toured the Carl T. Hayden VA Medical Center in Phoenix with Director RimaAnn Nelson. He released the following statement:
Arizona's U.S. House delegation has come together behind bipartisan legislation designed to improve the Phoenix VA hospital, one of the lowest-ranking facilities in the VA system.
Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., introduced the Phoenix VA Congressional Oversight Act in October, but the last Congress ran out of time to take action. He reintroduced the bill this January, saying even Arizona Democrats — such as Rep. Ruben Gallego, a former Marine — have been on board from the start.
Serving in the Armed Forces requires sacrifices large and small – time away from family and friends, physical and emotional well-being, and for some, the ultimate sacrifice. In exchange, our nation is committed to providing our veterans and their families care and treatment in recognition of those sacrifices.
We promise our veterans health care and additional services through the Veterans Administration. Many who work at the VA do an excellent job and are committed to providing quality care.

Gilbert, Arizona – Today, Congressman Andy Biggs released the following statement on the state of the Phoenix Veterans Health Care System:
"Last week, I sent a letter to U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Secretary David Shulkin to outline three of my primary concerns with the Phoenix and Gilbert VA. This letter followed seven weeks of internal discussions with the VA as my office attempted to work out these serious issues on behalf of my constituents.
Washington, D.C. – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed landmark legislation to hold Veterans Administration employees accountable for performance or misconduct and to enhance protections for whistleblowers. S. 1094 was passed by the U.S. Senate last week, and approved by the House today. Congressman Biggs released the following statement:
