Today, the House Committee on Oversight and Reform met to debate H.R. 51, a Democratic effort to transform the overwhelming majority of the District of Columbia's current territory into a 51st state, to be named "Washington, Douglass Commonwealth." At the same time, this bill would carve out a tiny sliver of current D.C. territory, containing merely the White House, Capitol, and a few other government buildings, to serve as the new federal capital district.


April 8, 2021

Today, Congressman Biggs introduced the No Vaccine Passports Actto prevent federal agencies from issuing any standardized documentation that could be used to certify a U.S. citizen's COVID-19 status to a third party, such as a restaurant or an airline. Additionally, this bill prohibits proof of COVID-19 vaccination from being a requirement for access to federal or congressional property and services.

This bill fixes problems caused by the Flores Settlement Agreement that prevents DHS from detaining family units for more than 20 days, ensures that unaccompanied alien children are quickly and safely returned home, and promotes increased integrity in the asylum system.
