GILBERT, AZ - An Arizona congressman says no one really wants DACA, the program that gives legal work status to undocumented immigrants brought to the United States as children.

Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Gilbert, says the debate on the program, set to phase out this spring, has become tied up in emotion. Approximately 800,000 people could be eligible for deportation unless DACA is renewed or replaced.

DACA is the amnesty that nobody wants. DACA recipients don't want it because it doesn't do enough. Opponents believe it does too much and that other priorities, such as a border wall, must come first. We can pay for that border wall by taxing remittance payments.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last night, the Department of Justice (DOJ) revealed that it had failed to preserve five months of text messages between Peter Strzok and Lisa Page. The end date of the missing texts coincides with the appointment of Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Peter Strzok served on the Special Counsel's team before being demoted due to the text messages he had sent to Ms. Page. Congressman Biggs released the following statement:

"This government closure can be laid at the feet of the Democrats and the United States Senate. Democrats are withholding government funding to give amnesty to illegal aliens, and the Senate has ignored the House-passed budget we sent them over four months ago.

PHOENIX — Republican lawmakers, including U.S. Congressman Andy Biggs of Arizona, were pushing for the release of a memo they said showed abuse of power by the FBI and Justice Department.

"It needs to be public. I think Americans will be outraged when they read what I read," Biggs said Friday on KTAR News 92.3 FM's Arizona's Morning News.

"We just have to get it on the [Senate] floor and vote to reveal it."

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence allowed House lawmakers to view a classified memo. Congressman Biggs viewed the document this evening and released the following statement:

"I am outraged by what I read, and the American people deserve to know what Congress now knows.

"I will be joining several of my colleagues to urge House leadership to declassify this material. Nothing within this memo would impair national security. My constituents deserve full transparency on this issue."

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the House Rules Committee hosted a member day on the issue of earmarks. Congressman Biggs issued the following statement:

"I am fundamentally opposed to earmarks. The old system was flawed, leading to corruption and coercion. Congress was right to stop the rampant earmark abuse and work towards a more transparent appropriations process.
